JH faced academic challenges in the Korean education system, struggling with poor high-school grades and an uncertain future due to a computer game addiction. After attending a 2-year technical college, he ran away from home. However, hope rekindled when JH’s mother discovered the UBCE program, offering him a fresh start.

American universities’ flexibility in allowing undergraduates to explore various fields intrigued JH. He overcame initial English language concerns through UBCE’s group and private lessons.

Over a year and a half at UMASS Boston, JH honed his skills, maintaining a strong GPA. Within just three years of arriving in the U.S., JH successfully transferred to Boston University (US News ranking no. 42). Through UBCE, JH finally found his passion and pursued his desired field of study at Boston University.
